Amy Fong

Amy spent five years in logistics and customer service for a large courier company prior to joining Northern Thunderbird Air in June of 2006. Right away it was obvious that we had happened upon a valuable employee with a personality and skill set well suited to the charter world of aviation. One year later she became our Vancouver Base Manager.

Today, Amy oversees our largest base in terms of aircraft and personnel and is a key member of the team overseeing most aspects of corporate planning and strategy. She has helped streamline our Vancouver operations by implementing efficiencies while maintaining an excellent reputation in customer care. Her high standards and leadership set the example for what NT Air strives for in its people and operations.

Bernice Hesse

Dispatch Manager – Prince George

Bernice got her start in Aviation in 1996 as a dispatcher for our sister company – Northern Lights Air. In 1998 she received her certification as a Transport Canada Type B dispatcher and started full time with our other sister company – Central Mountain Air. In 2001, Bernice moved over to NT Air as a dispatcher earning her way to Assistant Operations Manager in 2004; and in March of 2005 she became our Operations Manager. In 2008 she made the difficult decision to step down from the Operations Manager position to concentrate on raising her young children and instead took on the position of Dispatch Manager which she continues to excel at today.

Clark Kerr

Quality Assurance Manager – Prince George

Clark has been an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) since 2002. His first 4 years were with another company and then he was hired by Northern Thunderbird Air in 2006. His experience and leadership was rewarded with a Crew Chief position in 2007 and in May 2009 he was further rewarded with the Prince George Base Engineer position. This support position to the Director of Maintenance showcased Clark’s management abilities and a year later he subsequently took on the Base Engineer position for our Vancouver Base as well. When the Quality Assurance position came open in late 2010, Clark was our first choice to fill it and he officially became head of QA in February of 2011.

Clark embodies the qualities that we look for in all of our employees – leadership, experience, hard work, skill and dedication. Excellent maintenance is one of the foundations of aviation safety and we are fortunate to have Clark overseeing the quality of our maintenance delivery.

Ian Hollands

Chief Pilot – Vancouver

A 7700 hour pilot, Ian has been with Northern Thunderbird Air since May of 2003. Prior to then he was a Watson Lake Base Manager and charter pilot with NT Air’s sister company – Northern Lights Air.

Starting as a bush pilot flying float and ski equipped aircraft, Ian has earned his way at NT Air to become a Captain, Training Pilot, Transport Canada Approved Check Pilot, and in 2006 – our Assistant Chief Pilot.

In March 2009, Ian was promoted to become the Company’s Chief Pilot. He continues to bring a high standard of professionalism and leadership to the pilot group as well as being a senior manager at our Vancouver Base.

Kevin Goertzen

Director of Maintenance – Prince George

An Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) since 1989, Kevin has been with Northern Thunderbird Air since March of 2001. Prior to then he owned and operated a commercial aircraft maintenance facility and worked for various other Air Operators throughout BC. He has extensive hands on experience with the types of aircraft we fly and within the scope of charter operations.

With NT Air, Kevin has earned his way from an AME on the floor to Lead Hand to Base Engineer to Director of Maintenance. Since being awarded our own Transport Canada Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO) in 2008; Kevin has very capably overseen the transition from using contract maintenance to employing our own engineers.

He continues to provide experienced leadership and mentoring to our maintenance professionals in addition to overseeing what has become a very organized and smooth running AMO.

Mike Harris

Operations Manager – Prince George

A 6,500 hour pilot, Mike has been with Northern Thunderbird Air since November of 2000. Prior to then he was a flight instructor and general charter pilot with NT Air’s sister company – Northern Lights Air.

Mike was not only the youngest pilot in NT Air’s system to ever upgrade to Captain on the Beech 1900; he also earned the Chief Pilot position in 2003 at the age of 24; and his Transport Canada Approved Check Pilot authority in 2005.

In March of 2009, Mike was promoted to become the company’s Operations Manager and continues to be an important leader for the company in all aspects of operations.

Bill Hesse

General Manager – Prince George

A 10,000 hour pilot, Bill has been managing Northern Thunderbird Air since February of 1999. Prior to then he was with NT Air’s sister company – Central Mountain Air, starting in 1990.

As a pilot he has extensive experience flying bush planes on floats and skis; bird dogs and airtankers on forest fires; air ambulances; and commuter turboprops. As a manager, he has held the positions of Training Pilot, Chief Pilot, Operations Manager and is currently the General Manager for the company.

Consistent and capable leadership from Bill has helped make Northern Thunderbird Air one of the best charter airlines in the Pacific Northwest.
